The Medical Questionnaire for Visa Health Insurance
Medical questions let the insurer, Sanitas, assess the health information that's relevant to your application. It says that applicants who declare medical history for Residents or International Students are contacted for assessment.
We describe the process here rather than reproducing the questionnaire itself, so the current form and the insurer's instructions always take precedence.
Before you begin
Have accurate information to hand on the matters the questionnaire actually asks about. If supporting reports are requested, send them in the way the underwriting team asks.
Answer what is asked accurately
Read each question carefully and answer it as written, rather than applying your own idea of what counts as “serious.” If you're unsure of a date or treatment detail, look it up instead of guessing. An insurance application should be complete and accurate.
What happens next
The underwriting team may contact an applicant who declares medical history. We can't give a standard turnaround time for medical assessment or predict the underwriting result, so build assessment time into your visa plan rather than leaving it to the final days before an appointment.
Waiting periods are a separate subject
Residents Visado waives the standard waiting periods listed for Residents. That doesn't tell you how a declared condition is underwritten.
Keep medical information private
Our quote form doesn't need any medical details. If there's anything medical we need to discuss, we'll handle it privately.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to upload medical reports with my first enquiry?
No. If there's anything medical we need to discuss, we'll handle it privately. If the underwriting team requires reports, follow the secure instructions provided for the application.
Does declaring a condition mean automatic refusal?
Not necessarily. The insurer assesses declared history, and the outcome depends on that assessment.
How long does medical assessment take?
We can't give a standard turnaround time for medical assessment. Applying early leaves room for any follow-up.
