Student Visa Application Cost
Both visa-processing services in our group publish €799 for a new Spanish student visa application. Your other costs are the consulate's fee, your health insurance and, depending on the course and your consulate, certificates, apostilles and translations beyond what's included. Prices on this page were checked on 24 October 2026.

What's in the fee
My Spanish Student Visa lists an eligibility check, a personalised document checklist, the application forms prepared in Spanish, sworn translations up to €50 in value, apostille guidance, consulate submission, help with the consulate's correspondence and post-approval guidance.
Platinum Legal Spain names in its fee: guidance from the start until the visa is granted, the applications, forms, templates and cover letters, and sworn translations up to a set allowance.
If the application is refused
The providers describe different arrangements following a refusal. Check the engagement terms before paying.
What you pay separately
- The consulate fee. Set by each consulate by nationality: for example £345 for British nationals in London (stays over six months), and $160 for US citizens at Los Angeles, New York and Washington.
- Your health insurance. Matched to your course dates. See visa and residency health insurance cost and the International Students plan.
- Certificates. A medical certificate and, if you're an adult staying longer than six months, criminal record certificates, each with its own fee, plus any apostilles.
- Extra translations. Anything beyond the included amount.
- After arrival. For stays of more than six months, the residence card (TIE) fee, and registering your address.
- Courier or postage, if you send documents by tracked post.
Why course length matters for cost
Course length changes the paperwork. Adults staying longer than six months also need criminal record certificates, and stays of more than six months need a residence card (TIE) after arrival. A longer course also means a longer insurance period, because the policy has to cover the whole stay. Ask your service which documents your consulate expects for your course.
Budgeting the money you must show
The means a student shows are separate from the service fee and from tuition:
- The monthly figure: 100% of the IPREM, €600 a month in 2026, for each month of the stay. A nine-month stay therefore needs €5,400 shown.
- Tuition doesn't count: money set aside for the cost of the studies isn't counted towards the living-costs figure.
- Prepaid accommodation helps: accommodation paid in advance for the whole stay counts towards the monthly figure at its value.
Insurance dates and cost
The study authorisation normally starts a month before the course and ends 15 days after it, and the insurance should cover those weeks too, unless you've asked for permission matching the course dates only. That can add to the policy length, and so to the premium. Get a dated quote for the exact period.
Extending a stay
Extending a student stay in Spain is a separate step, with its own pricing. See extending a student stay.
