How Much Does Visa Health Insurance Cost in Spain?
The price of visa health insurance comes down to the plan, everyone's ages, where you'll live in Spain and who's on the policy. A price you can rely on names the product and version, the applicant profile, the tariff area and the date it applies from. The insurer's April 2026 tariffs apply in the first year to new insured people whose cover starts from 1 April through 31 December 2026.
What changes the price?
Your premium mainly depends on:
- the plan, and whether it's the right standard or Visado version;
- each applicant's age;
- how many people are insured;
- how often you pay; and
- for plans with regional tariffs, the tariff region that applies.
Costs by visa route: non-lucrative visa, digital nomad visa and student visa.
Household tables and published discounts
For Residents Visado, Sanitas publishes separate tables for individual, two-person, three-person and four-or-more-person policies.
Platinum Visado has its own individual, two-or-three-person and four-or-more-person tables.
For International Students, Sanitas publishes a 4% discount for its "annual" payment option and also lists monthly, quarterly and semi-annual payment. The policy runs for three to fourteen months to match the course; the Particular Conditions set out the premium and duration that apply to you.
If you're looking at the standard (non-Visado) Residents and Residents Platinum products, the couples and families guide covers how household cover works. Your dated quote shows any discounts that apply to your policy.
Published “from” prices
International Students starts from €42.65 a month: the April 2026 Resto tariff for ages 14–15. That's the minimum for one defined profile, not a typical price for every student.
Residents and Platinum prices
Sanitas publishes dated April 2026 tariffs for Residents Visado and Platinum Visado by age, area in Spain and number of insured people, before a 0.15% Consorcio surcharge. Platinum cannot be newly joined after age 64; Residents continues through age 75. Get an exact dated quote
Older applicants
Residents can be joined through age 75; Platinum through age 64. Because price varies with age, it's worth comparing dated quotes for both plans where you're eligible for both.
Couples and families
Household size can change the total (Visado products use separate household tables), but the cheapest individual plan isn't automatically the best choice for a household. We'll compare everyone on the correct version and joining-age rule.
Taxes and charges
Sanitas states that Residents Platinum has no VAT and applies a 0.15% Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros surcharge to the annual premium on the first bill. Its April 2026 tariff book adds the same 0.15% surcharge to the listed premiums. Your quote shows the final total.
Frequently asked questions
Why can my quote differ from a price shown online?
An online “from” price usually refers to one product, age or duration. To compare fairly, you need the same profile and the same effective date.
Is annual payment cheaper?
International Students has a published 4% discount for its "annual" payment option. For Residents Visado and Platinum Visado, your quote shows the exact premium.
What is the cheapest compliant option?
There's no single answer. The first step is finding the right plan and version for your visa route; then you can compare exact quotes. Price on its own won't tell you whether a policy suits your application.
